If you decide to take a trip to Barbuda your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the date you arrive.

Please make sure to check your passport’s date of expiration before travel. If your passport has less than 6 months of time in it. Please renew your passport before travel.

Please note upon arrival to the island you will be denied entry if your travel documents are not valid, or your passport has been reported as lost or stolen.

Visa requirements

Travel to Antigua and Barbuda is visa free. On entry, you will be allowed to stay for a maximum period of 90 days.

Applying for a visa

If you want to remain in Antigua and Barbuda beyond the 90 days then you can apply for a visa for work or study, business travel or for other reasons. You must apply and pay for this extension through the Antigua and Barbuda Immigration Department.

Please note that it is illegal to overstay the entry period or to work without a work permit in Antigua and Barbuda.

Ferry Services

There are two main ferry service which transports persons from Antigua to Barbuda. These are Barbuda Express and Codrington Express which takes around 90 mins per trip.

Barbuda Express Ferry Service & Day Tour is a high-speed catamaran built for comfort which can be boarded at the ferry dock in St. John’s harbour located at the end of High Street in Antigua.

The ferry offers day tours to Barbuda which occurs 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday) from 6:00am. On Thursdays the tour can also begin at 9:30am on the second ferry trip.

Once on the island you can take a taxi to the Capital (Codrington) where a boat will be waiting for you to take you to the Frigate Bird Sanctuary where you will see over 100 different bird species.

After your return to Codrington the taxi will take you on a tour around the island where you will visit historical sites.

Airlines

You can take a trip to Barbuda via the following airline companies which will take you straight to Codrington’s Airport. Please note that most airlines include departure tax in their flight costs. If you’re flying on regional airlines, you should check whether tax is included before you travel.
